The Location

The Cheltenham Ladies College new Bayshill Performing Arts Centre is a state of the art media space, opening late 2009. The site remains in close proximity to our other key locations and is close to Cheltenham’s busy high-street., its local transport links with trains, buses and taxis nearby.

Friday 1st October - VIEWFINDER Film Festival evening

Viewfinder Film Festival is a local established festival to Cheltenham specializing in showcasing the talents of local young people and students working in the medium of film. Cheltenham Film Festival 2010 is providing Viewfinder with a platform to showcase the talents of local FE / HE students. The festival’s organizer will run and co-ordinate the event, appealing to an already existent audience and promotional base.

Saturday 2nd October - THE NATIONAL CALL Competition evening

Early 2010 Cheltenham Film Festival will issue a specific filmic brief via College and University networks and arts magazines for student submissions to THE NATIONAL CALL Competition.

To incentivise THE NATIONAL CALL Competition - further to offering the opportunity to screen work to a public audience - we will place a secure ballot box alongside the screen, and encourage the visiting public to vote for their favourite short films. Prizes will in turn be awarded for the best films as voted for by the public. Prizes will be donated by corporate sponsors, for example:

Sunday 3rd October - EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME SHORTS

This evening will provide students with the opportunity to showcase the work they will have produced during their participation within the Creativity and Media Diploma and filmmaking workshops organised and ran by Cheltenham Film Festival. This is an opportunity for their families, friends and teachers to share in the work they have created, but more explicitly an opportunity for students themselves to make public the skills they have acquired.
