The Cheltenham Film Festival Educational Programme

A core objective of the festival is to nurture an educational dynamic that will grow year-on-year. It is our intention to expand upon this program as the Festival establishes itself within Cheltenham’s festival circuit. Such expansion may include workshops within primary and secondary schools, and actively offering opportunities relating to the awarding of the Creativity and Media Diploma - a new Government initiative which involves teaching students between 14 and 19 a variety of skills in the classroom, and then giving them the opportunity to apply these skills practically within a professional industry. The following will take place during the inaugural 2010 Festival.

Lectures / Seminars

Established film industry professionals from a variety of disciplines will host public lectures and seminars, providing personal & professional insight into their respective disciplines. Such events will target FE and HE age-ranges, and the local student population. All will have worked on large, popular mainstream productions, and so have significant insight and knowledge regarding their area of expertise. It is our intention, through such lectures, to introduce individuals to potential routes and pathways to enter into the film industry themselves. Lectures / seminars will be conducted upon an array of subjects ranging through Screen Acting, Direction, Animation, using camera and tech and beyond. Lectures / seminars will be held within Cheltenham Ladies College Performing Arts Centre and will be ticketed via advance and on-door booking.
