The Location

Cheltenham Town Hall has been confirmed as the Festival’s Principal location. There is an existing precedent within Cheltenham’s Festival circuit for use of this site. We think it commercially useful to adhere to that same continuity. The site is in close proximity to other key festival locations, and is central to Cheltenham’s busy high-street, its local transport links with trains, buses and taxis nearby.

The Events

The INDEPENDENT Cinema Screen

The INDEPENDENT cinema screen will be situated at the stage end of the Town Hall’s Main Hall. The screen will feature films produced by independent filmmakers and production companies. The hall will be transformed into a communal, “lounge” environment that appeals to both groups of friends and family alike - a subtly illuminated, informal viewing atmosphere and experience. Various types of seating, including sofa’s and beanbags, will be installed. Via the festival’s promotional material for this screen, we will encourage the audience to bring with them something comfortable to rest, lye and relax on during the films viewing, if they wish. Recognising that such a viewing experience is not necessarily viable or desirable for all, to ensure that the event remains inclusive we will devise an area of more conventional seating for the elderly and disabled etc. Refreshments and food will be available, supplied by the Town Hall’s bar / café facilities.

WORLD Cinema Screen

The WORLD cinema screen will be situated in the Town Hall’s Pillar Room. It will feature a cross section of films from around the globe. Each evening will be themed, a different continents cinema represented. The seating for the screen will follow a more conventional, seated row format.
